That's it! I've decided to change my life and my radical ways. I'm tired of being ANTI everything. I've given myself an ulcer being a liberal atheist.I have been fighting the system and the man for years now...I'm beat! I've been pissed off at god since high school and I have seen the light.... I think it's time for me to get in line and let myself go...I've decided to go to church on Easter Sunday.. I need some introspection of my life. What kind of father am I? Maybe my dysfunctional dad is right. The Christian God is the guy for me... I'm throwing away all my liberal books and I'm going to buy a bible this weekend and start all over again. U.S. Soldier Gets 35 years for murder in Iraq..

Sgt. Joseph Mayo was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the murders of four detainees in 2007. Mayo told the military court that the detainees were bound and blindfolded and shot in the back of the head with a 9mm pistol and dumped in a canal in Baghdad. In February 2009 Sgt. Joseph Leahy was sentenced to life in prison for his part in the murders. Another soldier Master Sgt. John Hatley is scheduled to stand trial on April 13th 2009 for his part in the murders. The murders were called retribution for an attack on a US Patrol in Baghdad in which two US soldiers were killed.
So you have killings and murders and prison sentences and lives destroyed for an illegal war in which the US are the aggressors. American nationalist pride tells us that we are the good guys, the rest of the world calls us the bad guys. So when the "attacked" "attack" us we have to retaliate, collateral damage, that's what we're told. The government has to brain wash the soldiers to get them to kill and the media has to brain wash us to believe war is great and we have to follow the president. I guess it must be working because no one is protesting the killing of human beings. War just goes to prove that life is meaningless.

93 year old Tsutomu Yamaguchi is the only known survivor of the U.S. bombings of both Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He was in Hiroshima for a business trip on August 6th 1945. He suffered serious burns from the bombing and spent the night in Hiroshima. He then returned to his home in Nagasaki. The U.S. dropped the bomb on Nagasaki on August 9th 1945. Over 200,000 people were killed between the two bombings and thousands suffered from radiation related illnesses through many generations. When you think about the destruction that happened that week you have to wonder who is the "good guy" and who is the "bad guy" during war time?

Al Franken one step closer to becoming Minnesota Senator

It looks like political junkie and Paul Wellstone Democrat Al Franken is on his to becoming the newest Senator from Minnesota. The lawyer for Republican numbskull Norm Coleman says that it appears that Al Franken will continue with his lead heading into the state supreme court decision. It appears to me that Al knows more about politics than most politicians, so let's hope he will be our next elected representative in Washington.

Charles Manson at age 74....

I just found this picture of Charles Manson on the web. A former resident of Price Hill, Manson will be in prison for the rest of his life. It's interesting to me that if what he was sentenced for happened today he wouldn't serve a day for conspiracy. With lawyers being what they are he would have gotten probation and a fine. Just like O.J. Simpson. I remember seeing the movie "Helter Skelter" as a kid and the performance of Steve Railsback as Manson scared the hell out of me. In the annals of true crime he turns out to be a minor player. He can't hold a flame to the blood shed by the Bush Administration.

I just ran across this on the BBC Website. The Secularist Society in the U.K. has come up with a Certificate of Debaptism. You can order one of these, only available in the U.K. for a couple of bucks. As atheism is on the rise worldwide it stands to reason that freethinking human beings want to separate themselves from the wishes of their parents. After all, baptizing a child is a ceremony for selfish adults. Let the kid grow up and make the decision for themselves. We need one of these forms for Recovering Catholics in America, you won't be able to print them fast enough. There may be hope for the world after all.

Richard Aoki Passes Away at age 70

Richard Aoki pictured at left being arrested in 1969 was one of the few Asian Americans to be a part of The Black Panther Party in California. He was born in 1938 and his family was interred in an American Camp during War World II. Another very dark period in our history. He went to Merritt College in Oakland where he met Booby Seale and Huey Newton. I try to be aware of people who were part of civil disobedience in this country for they are often times our unsung heroes.

I have to crack up at this picture. All of the suburban Cincinnati elite came down to Fountain Square to protest against President Obama's Economic Plan. Since the Reagan Era they and their parents have put people in office who have raped and pillaged this country with de-regulation. They voted for George W. Bush twice. Most of them voted for John McCain and Sarah Palin. They are basically protesting themselves. No one seems to care that Bush left two wars going costing close to one trillion dollars. But we gotta have vouchers so we can privatize schools and teach creationism and we gotta stop a women's right to have an abortion and stop stem cell research, makes sense to me. People are interesting to say the least. They are protesting everything that FOX and Rush Limbaugh have been preaching for years and years. Let Wallstreet and The Banks regulate themselves, we trust them. The Democrats are just as bad by letting it happen. It took Clinton years to dig out of the mess Reagan and Bush Sr. made. Barack Obama is at least trying to do something. He has been in office less than 60 days and the K.K.K. (white rich men) and The Religious Right are ready to lynch him. But Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld are still free and at large. Try to explain that to your kids and grandkids. If the economy is so goddamn bad and this country is going down the shitter why don't they tax churches? Think of the billions of dollars collected every Saturday and Sunday in the name of someone you can't put a face to the name. Let god finance all of our wars. Most wars are in his name anyway! Right? I'm not a Democrat apologist....I say give him a chance to srew up. Everyone (FOX, LIMBAUGH,WLW) apologized for Bush everyday he was in office(and while he was on vacation) and he screwed up until his last day) but he was white and a so called christian so that was cool, right? So much for the Republican Family Values Sales Pitch!
I just want to make a challenge right now: I'm calling God and or Jesus out right now. Both of you have a lot of explaining to do. Supposedly you started the world and you are letting it hit rock bottom. You don't show your face for 2000 years and you have the balls to expect people to still believe in all that bible stuff, you want to talk about lame, c'mon man. Clifton Fairview German Language School Fundraiser

This Saturday March 14th from 1:00pm to 6:00pm Clifton Fairview German Language School is having their biggest fundraiser of the year: "FASCHING"

It is the first one in the new school so everyone is very excited. We will be volunteering again this year and have donated an Aurore Press package for the bid and buy showcase. The maximum sentence was 15 years, the lightest sentence was the three years he received. I stand behind his actions 100%. Sometimes you have to have civil disobedience to make your point. Can you imagine what right wing nut job nationalist militia men would do if Saddam occupied this country and them made a speech here. They would shoot him, hell with throwing boots. It takes alot of bravery to stand up for what you believe. Too bad he didn't hit Bush in the face and bloody his nose and blow up his house and kill his neighbors and destroy his life like Bush did to working families in Iraq. The Bush Crime Family has buckets of blood on their hands and should be in Jail. You get three years for throwing footwear at a Nazi, but you get billions of dollars for attacking and killing hundreds of thousands of innocent women and children. I can't understand why people the world over hate this country???

Weird day today...

I went into work today as I have done every Monday for almost 12 years. I saw my buddy Aaron in the parking lot and said hello. I was off last week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday so I was just catching up. I guess on Friday 03/06/09 twenty three people got laid off at work. Holy Shit! I had no idea. This is the third lay off I have been through since working there. Very unnerving!
The weird thing is that I was listening to a Howard Zinn cd earlier in the day. He was talking about the history of labor since about 1900. All the strikes etc, that you don't learn about in normal text books. The cd is brilliant and Howard Zinn is my hero. The president and vice president called a meeting at 4:00pm to assure us that things were going to be ok. Except that there are no guarantees about anything. So I have made it through three so far and I'm still kicking. So far they have cut our hours to 37.5 a week. They no longer match our 401(k) and there is no profit sharing anymore. Harsh and Ugly!
The health insurance is shit! It's an unpleasant reminder that no job is secure anymore in this country. I've been thinking about the state of affairs lately. My take on the whole thing is that America has burned itself out. Greed, politics, religion, nationalism,war, cronyism and so on have reached the apex. Nowhere to go but down! We are now in a mess because the people who are in the $50,000 to $150,000 range are losing their jobs. Before when the rest of us were suffering it was "oh well, THEY'LL get over it." Now white collar people are getting it up the ass. And guess what? It hurts! The rest of the world must be thinking,"how can the richest country on earth screw things up so bad?" By reading what my dad calls "lefty revisionist history" it doesn't take a genius to figure it out. Just remember who you voted for in 2000 and 2004 and you may get the idea. This country was built on the Class Struggle and it's crumbling on the Class Struggle. Just an observation......

Family Research Coucil on Homosexuality

I mentioned The Family Research Council in a previous post concerning stem cell reasearch. It's a right wing religious outfit looking out for all of our best interests. I was looking through their tenets and found this interesting (not so humanist) text.
HOMOSEXUALITY:
Family Research Council believes that homosexual conduct is harmful to the persons who engage in it and to society at large, and can never be affirmed. It is by definition unnatural, and as such is associated with negative physical health effects. While the origins of same-sex attractions may be complex, there is no convincing evidence that a homosexual identity is ever something genetic or inborn. We oppose the vigorous efforts of homosexual activists to demand that homosexuality be accepted as equivalant to heterosexuality in law, in the media, and in schools. Attempts to join two men or two women in "marriage" constitute a radical redefinition and falsification of the instituition, and FRC supports state and federal constituitional amendments to prevent such redefinition by courts or legislature. Sympathy must be extended to those who struggle with unwanted same-sex attractions, and every effort should be made to assist such persons to overcome those attractions, as many already have.


I think this statement shows the arrogance of the religious right. A total intolerance to nature. They are suppressing anything that could possible provoke a questioning of religion. If we give everyone equality in terms of sexuality, ethnicity, political beliefs and on and on it really takes away from our need for a "god" figure. When people begin to think for themselves they "get out of line" and can't be controlled. It's hard to get them to show up at a designated church and give money. It's even harder to force an agenda on them. If you start them out at an early age religion can turn into "Brand Loyalty" that lasts a lifetime. To have blind faith in something that cannot be proven by science or nature seems along the lines in believing that pro wrestling is real even though it can physical be proven not to be so. You just gotta have faith....and connections in the political arena.

Northside Library Book Sale...

The Northside Branch of the Cincinnati Public Library is having a Book Sale on Friday March 20th 12:00pm to 6:00pm and Saturday March 21st from 10:00am to 5:00pm. I'm sure we will be stopping by sometime that weekend.

Obama and stem cell research and....

Here's a headline for you,"Obama to reverse embryonic stem cell ban.." Wow! This guy is doing more for "the people" of this country in the first 100 days that Bush did in 8 years. In order to satisfy the religious right George W. Bush signed an executive order that barred The National Institutes of Health from funding research on embryonic stem cells. The road to cures from diabetes to parkinson's disease can be greatly improved. Science and medicine are used to improve the quality of life for human beings. Now we go to the opposition. I've always been an advocate of separation of church and state here's one of the reasons. Tony Perkins who represents the Family Research Council , it's a right wing faith based think tank, here's the web address:

Tony Perkins and Harry Jackson say that if you unite the parties under the pro-life, pro-family mainstay we can influence immigration policy, poverty and social justice, racial reconcilliation and global warming. Why can't you address these issues under the guise of mankind not religious belief. They both say that if they can bring together the evangelical movement it can result in faith friendly policies. Barack is a very deeply religious man but I hope he continues to put politics and government first and foremost in policy making, not a belief in a superstition.

This Clive Barker painting is called "The Arsonist" I have it tattooed on my left leg. I had it done when we lived in San Francisco. A short brutal german girl did it. She kept getting pissed at me because I came in the three Saturdays to finish it and was hung over all three times. I was bleeding like Dusty Rhodes in a cowbell match. I know she was cussing me in German but it didn't bother me in the least. I met Clive at a horror convention in Eugene Oregon, what a cool dude.

Just bought the new Napalm Death Cd..

You might want to wear a jock strap if you listen to the new Napalm Death Cd. They have not mellowed one bit over the years. I saw them in San Fransico back in 1994 with Obituary and Machine Head...I still have the tour shirt, (it doesn't fit so well anymore?) what a show. They still punch you in the stomach and then in the balls and then kick you right in the ass.

Joe The Plumber Draws Huge Crowd At Book Signing..

The Republican Poster Child for redneck nationalism Joe The Loser Plumber drew a record crowd at Borders Books in Washington D.C. A reported eleven(11) upright citizens waited literally seconds in line to receive Joe's highly sought after autograph. Shortly after reading Joe's book those same eleven(11) patriots waited in line for the restroom, to shit out Joe's uplifting message. Too bad Joe didn't contact the Aurore Press offices, we could have rented out two or three port-o-lets for this event and it could have been all inclusive.

Appreciate Your Junk Mail...

I operate a printing press. The printing industry as I write this is not doing so well. I hear people complain about junk mail in their mail boxes. My suggestion about junk mail is recycle it. Someone in the printing business is feeding his or her family by running this stuff. I love junk mail.
We print those Kroger coupon booklets, we do some Cincinnati Bell stuff. Who knows throughout the shop how many mailers we do? Like I say, if you hate it, at least recycle it. Because a lot of us pay our bills this way. Now I can't speak for all that annoying spam on your e-mail messages, that's some else's blog!
