Joe The Plumber Draws Huge Crowd At Book Signing..
The Republican Poster Child for redneck nationalism Joe The Loser Plumber drew a record crowd at Borders Books in Washington D.C. A reported eleven(11) upright citizens waited literally seconds in line to receive Joe's highly sought after autograph. Shortly after reading Joe's book those same eleven(11) patriots waited in line for the restroom, to shit out Joe's uplifting message. Too bad Joe didn't contact the Aurore Press offices, we could have rented out two or three port-o-lets for this event and it could have been all inclusive.

New Year, New Things, Plans, Etc:
Well, as far as I can tell everyone I know made it through the madness of X-mas and all the new year's eve parties and the ensuing hangovers if your body was such inclined. As usual we played it safe on New Year's and were home around ten, I always hang out at the house on the biggest drinking night of the year. You can still have a few beers and play a couple of games of "SORRY" and bring in 2009.
I was taking a little inventory of what was on the horizon for us in 2009 and it looks like a very busy one, that's good.
First up is an Aurore Press Event on January 24th. We are doing a
"Not So Fair and Balanced Farewell To BUSH"
This will be a spoken word / performance night to send off our worst of the worst president NOT ELECT George W. Bush Jr.
The show will feature :
Robert "Jughead" Sturdevant: author of "Pardon's Prism
Nathan Singer: author of "In The Light Of You" and 2 other novels
Justin Patrick Moore (pending):host of WAIF's "On the way to the peak of normal" and founder of Sothis Media.
MESSERLY AND EWING ARE NOW ON THE BILL>>>>>>>>>>>>
Plus I will be MCing the show and will have several pieces throughout the night and hopefully a few other folks before the night is over.
"Pardon's Prism will for sale that night for $5.00 and we'll have other Aurore Press Merchandise. We will be providing some wine and beer; All the info will be forth coming on our website:

Next up will be a spoken word /performance event sometime in the summer. tentatively called:
"Freethinkers": A Night Of Reason
This will be a showcase of mine and other friends outlook on religion. My friend Maryanne Cowgill and I were discussing our views on Religion and decided we needed a forum to let it rip.
We have a few other friends lined up for the night, so this may be a first for this sort of thing so stay tuned for a little mud slashing towards organized religion, I can't wait for this!!!
Next or around the same time will be our first venture in the world of CDs. We will be putting out a cd of the Jockey Club Reunion 08 show we put on in November 2008. We recorded it for history so we can pass it on to our kids and their kids.
Who knows what other projects lie ahead, sometimes we don't know until they are in our face and we just run with it. Again the website is: http://www.aurorepress.com/

Jockey Club Book And Reunion Show
This picture of Bill Leist, myself and Jughead taken on July 26th 2008 is proof that The Jockey Club Tribute Book and Jockey Club Reunion show will both take place on my birthday November 22nd 2008. The book release will be at Shake It Records in Northside in the afternoon and The reunion Show will be at The Southgate House that same night with the bands starting at 9:00pm. All My Friends Are Rich!
Last night I left work at 11:00pm and arrived at home at exactly 11:10pm. In that short 10 minute ride I thought about my friends. I have to say it was no one in particular but the culmination of everyone I know who compliments my life and makes me feel good.
Last week Betsy and I started work on our second book under the Aurore Press banner. It is going to be another charity book. The premise this time is going to be a tribute to the ultimate playground The Jockey Club of the 1980's. We want to get people who hung out there or band members who played there in the 80's to write a piece about their experiences. It is a chance to have fun for a good cause. This meant that I had to take a stroll down you know what lane and contact people from that era of my life. So I headed for MYSPACE and the internet. I made contact with some friends I haven't seen in over 20 years. I hope to make further contacts over the next weeks and months. What a joy to hear that they are doing well and still kicking down the walls.
It is so refreshing to see someone's name pop up on a MYSPACE or E-MAIL message that I admire and respect. I love to see the heading "Just Checking In".
Or, "it's been a while, what's up?" Or, "how are you and the family?" That makes me feel blessed.
I also dig a message letting me know about a friend who is doing a show with their band, or an art show or a book release party or a close circle get together.
I've been thinking lately about my old Jockey Club friends. I think about my wrestling friends. That part of my life was full of dysfunction but I made some super friends. I think about the new friends I have made through my daughters school and how wonderful they are. I even think about my buddies at work who make me laugh every day. I appreciate all the people I met from the release of our first book. Truly committed to the good fight. I think about all the people who put up with me and my rants about politics and religion and yet they still love me and invite me back. That is a special breed of friend no doubt.
So when I say that all my friends are rich I don't mean they are millionaires I mean they are rich ......in spirit!!!!!!!!!
