THE ZERO BOYS

One of the greatest punk bands ever, The Zero Boys from Indianapolis are alive and well. Secretly Canadian Records have re-issued one of punk rock's top ten albums of all time VICIOUS CIRCLE. They were my first show at The Jockey Club in 1982.

R.I.P. Lux Interior

Just found out that Lux Interior of the infamous CRAMPS died on February 4th in Glendale California of heart complications. Every punk, goth, rockabilly greaser and everyone inbetween loved The Cramps.

I can't say how much I love this photo. I think this is a bus in England, can you imagine the Xtian outrage at something like this here in Cincinnati. I saw a figure that put the number of non-believers in this country at about 63 million people. That's a nice number I must say. In the words of the great Harvey Milk: "I'm here to recruit you"...It's time to stand up and be heard, start a blog, write an essay, start a group... it's our time.

Economic Stimulus Plan #193

I just took a look at the economic stimulus plan which is called hr1. There is a provision #193 which states:
"Would increase funding for The Compassion Capital Fund from $100,000,000 to $600,000,000 to provide needed support for FAITH and community-based social service organizations. The Compassion Capital Fund(ccf) was started by George W. Bush as part of his faith based initiatives. It's free money for churches!!! They already don't pay taxes for Christ's Sake. This is complete bullshit, our tax money going to tax free organizations. It makes me sick!!!

New Chairman for the RNC....

In a landslide victory Michael Stephen Steele has been named the new chairman of the Republican National Committee. He didn't get the job because he is african american either. He was a lt. governor in Maryland at one time and lost a bid for u.s. senate. He has since joined some law firm...But he is now the pride and joy of the republican party. Even ass kisser and all around loser Ken Blackwell was in the running for awhile. You never know though, the south may rise again too!

THE 10 COMMANDMENTS

I checked up on a few things and I cannot find any historical evidence that a man named Moses ever existed. Does this sound reasonable to you? Dude goes up into the mountain, talks to a burning bush, comes back down the mountain with these tablets and says that this is the word of God and you must obey these things.
I forgot that dude parted the Red Sea. I think it is like 50 or 60 miles wide. Oh yeah! That really happened!!
The first four commandments tell you what a meglomaniac god must be. Number five is o.k. if your parents are worth honoring, I'm sure old Jesus dug his father forsaking him??? I guess number 6 doesn't apply to god himself as he wiped out everybody around the time of Noah and his ark? Number 7 is crap because in Genesis those cats had concubines and slave lovers. Number 8 is ok unless your god does not provide you with a job or money or unless your local police are doing their job. Does anyone really know or care about Number 9. Now we get to my favorite! Number 10. This one goes out to all the people who have to keep up with the Jones'. Or how many people covet their neighbors wife. How many people sleep with married men or women? How many cheat on their husband or wife? If you commit number 10 you can also scratch off number 7. The whole idea is absurd. We have laws to keep us in line. Common sense should show up somewhere in the equation. People fight and argue to keep these useless tablets in public places to force their beliefs on everyone else. Religion is separate from government, obviously it is way separate from science and the use of logic. If you enjoy being told what to do, what to say and what to think from someone other than your own self and your own conscience by all means read and live by the bible, not one story has any historic or scientific truth. Nothing can be proven. Faith and especially blind faith will set your mind at ease, it's an easy way out, it takes no self introspection at all. Me, I call it like I see it.

Farewell To Bush Show a success!

Last night I hosted our Aurore Press Event: A (not) so fair and balanced farewell to Bush show. Below is a picture of me getting things cooking. The fantastic Messerly and Ewing were the musical hookup for the night. We were treated to a song featuring Eric and Trish from 7 Speed Vortex as a bonus. Special guests Justin Patrick Moore, Nathan Singer (w/Abiyah) and Robert Sturdevant collectively put on a barn burner of a show on a cold night in January here in downtown Northside. The place was packed and everyone participated in the goings on. It's events like this that showcase the diversity of the literary and musical worlds here in Cincinnati. Thanks to everyone who performed and to everyone who showed up to show their support for Aurore Press. We have several things coming up in the future....so stay tuned.
