THE 10 COMMANDMENTS

I checked up on a few things and I cannot find any historical evidence that a man named Moses ever existed. Does this sound reasonable to you? Dude goes up into the mountain, talks to a burning bush, comes back down the mountain with these tablets and says that this is the word of God and you must obey these things.
I forgot that dude parted the Red Sea. I think it is like 50 or 60 miles wide. Oh yeah! That really happened!!
The first four commandments tell you what a meglomaniac god must be. Number five is o.k. if your parents are worth honoring, I'm sure old Jesus dug his father forsaking him??? I guess number 6 doesn't apply to god himself as he wiped out everybody around the time of Noah and his ark? Number 7 is crap because in Genesis those cats had concubines and slave lovers. Number 8 is ok unless your god does not provide you with a job or money or unless your local police are doing their job. Does anyone really know or care about Number 9. Now we get to my favorite! Number 10. This one goes out to all the people who have to keep up with the Jones'. Or how many people covet their neighbors wife. How many people sleep with married men or women? How many cheat on their husband or wife? If you commit number 10 you can also scratch off number 7. The whole idea is absurd. We have laws to keep us in line. Common sense should show up somewhere in the equation. People fight and argue to keep these useless tablets in public places to force their beliefs on everyone else. Religion is separate from government, obviously it is way separate from science and the use of logic. If you enjoy being told what to do, what to say and what to think from someone other than your own self and your own conscience by all means read and live by the bible, not one story has any historic or scientific truth. Nothing can be proven. Faith and especially blind faith will set your mind at ease, it's an easy way out, it takes no self introspection at all. Me, I call it like I see it.

Farewell To Bush Show a success!

Last night I hosted our Aurore Press Event: A (not) so fair and balanced farewell to Bush show. Below is a picture of me getting things cooking. The fantastic Messerly and Ewing were the musical hookup for the night. We were treated to a song featuring Eric and Trish from 7 Speed Vortex as a bonus. Special guests Justin Patrick Moore, Nathan Singer (w/Abiyah) and Robert Sturdevant collectively put on a barn burner of a show on a cold night in January here in downtown Northside. The place was packed and everyone participated in the goings on. It's events like this that showcase the diversity of the literary and musical worlds here in Cincinnati. Thanks to everyone who performed and to everyone who showed up to show their support for Aurore Press. We have several things coming up in the future....so stay tuned. January 20th 2009 What A Day!!

I woke up at 11:00am and walked downstairs and turned on the television. They had a sweeping camera shot of the events in D.C.
I was brought to tears just viewing all those people. The biggest turn out ever for a presidential inauguration in history. It blows your mind! We just went through the dark ages of american history with the worst president in our history. Now we have a smart, well read, articulate leader to make us great and respectable on the world's stage. Two wars, unprecedented debt, a huge recession , civil liberties in the shitter and a reputation worldwide almost impossible to fix. Well, we have a cool dude in charge now who we all hope can turn things around. History in the making and I'm glad to be alive and to be part of it. Anyone who campaigned, blogged, sent e-mails, myspace messages, went to protest and rallys give yourself a hand.
At 7:45pm we went over to the Northside Tavern for an Inaugural Ball put on by the awesome folks at Cincy Rocks Obama. I ran the booth to raise money for The Freestore Food Bank. I think I raised about $75 for this great charity. I took the microphone and raised hell to fill the donation jar. I also plugged our show on January 24th. I danced to the wonderful DJ April Reign and several people brought me beers, which I drank...... I enjoyed the beers and talking with fellow Northsiders, what a fantastic night.
It's now early Wednesday and I'll probably have a big head to deal with but it is all worth it. Positive history isn't made very often in this country so I lived it up......

Billy Graham please die already!!

I watched the PBS program "American Experience" last night and this particular show was about Richard Nixon. During the presentation there was a moment when Nixon gave a speech from the pulpit. It was Billy Graham's pulpit. There was a huge crowd!
Also at the speech was a number of Vietnam War protesters. You should have seen the faces of the sheep in the audience. Thousands of blind faith zombies cheering for Dick and Billy and damning the long hairs with their anti-war signs. It made me ill to know that a charlatan and swindler like Billy Graham was this close to the white house. So I did a little research on the so-called reverend. Much to my dismay I find out that he has been sucking ass with presidents since Harry (I killed alot of innocent Japanese people) Truman. Truman came to his senses and called Graham a"counterfeit publicity seeker". Yes he was up the asshole of them all through George (worst president ever) Bush Jr. JFK played golf with him but he was a Catholic so they didn't hit it off so well. He backed the war in Vietnam, he backed Desert storm, he backed war in Iraq, this guy is a crook. He was on welfare his whole life. That's right, when someone else pays your bills and gives you tax free money, it's called welfare. This criminal must have a money vault in his basement. He took his scam all the way to the bank and eventually on to the grave. It cracks me up that because you have the word Reverend in front of your name you are a.o.k. Come on people!! Jerry Falwell, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Baker, Ted Haggard, John Hagee, Rod Parsley, Rick Warren , Pat Robertson, Robert Schuler, Oral Roberts and on and on...People like this want to make policy for us and our families, Billy Graham is right at the top of the heap. I'm in the wrong type of business....

Atheist Step Up For Inauguration Day

Atheist have stepped up once again. There is a lawsuit pending to get the bible taken out of the Presidential swearing in ceremony. Everyone knows that I still believe in the separation of church and state. It's super scary when a person like Rick Warren gets to speak in front of the entire world. What can the people across the globe think when someone like this is speaking on behalf of America? Here is a link for the story..

It takes big balls to stand up for your beliefs in a country so steeped in superstition.....

New Year, New Things, Plans, Etc:

Well, as far as I can tell everyone I know made it through the madness of X-mas and all the new year's eve parties and the ensuing hangovers if your body was such inclined. As usual we played it safe on New Year's and were home around ten, I always hang out at the house on the biggest drinking night of the year. You can still have a few beers and play a couple of games of "SORRY" and bring in 2009.
I was taking a little inventory of what was on the horizon for us in 2009 and it looks like a very busy one, that's good.
First up is an Aurore Press Event on January 24th. We are doing a
"Not So Fair and Balanced Farewell To BUSH"

This will be a spoken word / performance night to send off our worst of the worst president NOT ELECT George W. Bush Jr.
The show will feature :

Robert "Jughead" Sturdevant: author of "Pardon's Prism
Nathan Singer: author of "In The Light Of You" and 2 other novels
Justin Patrick Moore (pending):host of WAIF's "On the way to the peak of normal" and founder of Sothis Media.
MESSERLY AND EWING ARE NOW ON THE BILL>>>>>>>>>>>>
Plus I will be MCing the show and will have several pieces throughout the night and hopefully a few other folks before the night is over.
"Pardon's Prism will for sale that night for $5.00 and we'll have other Aurore Press Merchandise. We will be providing some wine and beer; All the info will be forth coming on our website:
http://www.aurorepress.com/

Next up will be a spoken word /performance event sometime in the summer. tentatively called:
"Freethinkers": A Night Of Reason
This will be a showcase of mine and other friends outlook on religion. My friend Maryanne Cowgill and I were discussing our views on Religion and decided we needed a forum to let it rip.
We have a few other friends lined up for the night, so this may be a first for this sort of thing so stay tuned for a little mud slashing towards organized religion, I can't wait for this!!!

Next or around the same time will be our first venture in the world of CDs. We will be putting out a cd of the Jockey Club Reunion 08 show we put on in November 2008. We recorded it for history so we can pass it on to our kids and their kids.

Who knows what other projects lie ahead, sometimes we don't know until they are in our face and we just run with it. Again the website is: http://www.aurorepress.com/
I have my own my space page:
