I woke up at 11:00am and walked downstairs and turned on the television. They had a sweeping camera shot of the events in D.C.
I was brought to tears just viewing all those people. The biggest turn out ever for a presidential inauguration in history. It blows your mind! We just went through the dark ages of american history with the worst president in our history. Now we have a smart, well read, articulate leader to make us great and respectable on the world's stage. Two wars, unprecedented debt, a huge recession , civil liberties in the shitter and a reputation worldwide almost impossible to fix. Well, we have a cool dude in charge now who we all hope can turn things around. History in the making and I'm glad to be alive and to be part of it. Anyone who campaigned, blogged, sent e-mails, myspace messages, went to protest and rallys give yourself a hand.
At 7:45pm we went over to the Northside Tavern for an Inaugural Ball put on by the awesome folks at Cincy Rocks Obama. I ran the booth to raise money for The Freestore Food Bank. I think I raised about $75 for this great charity. I took the microphone and raised hell to fill the donation jar. I also plugged our show on January 24th. I danced to the wonderful DJ April Reign and several people brought me beers, which I drank...... I enjoyed the beers and talking with fellow Northsiders, what a fantastic night.
It's now early Wednesday and I'll probably have a big head to deal with but it is all worth it. Positive history isn't made very often in this country so I lived it up......
