I forgot that dude parted the Red Sea. I think it is like 50 or 60 miles wide. Oh yeah! That really happened!!
The first four commandments tell you what a meglomaniac god must be. Number five is o.k. if your parents are worth honoring, I'm sure old Jesus dug his father forsaking him??? I guess number 6 doesn't apply to god himself as he wiped out everybody around the time of Noah and his ark? Number 7 is crap because in Genesis those cats had concubines and slave lovers. Number 8 is ok unless your god does not provide you with a job or money or unless your local police are doing their job. Does anyone really know or care about Number 9. Now we get to my favorite! Number 10. This one goes out to all the people who have to keep up with the Jones'. Or how many people covet their neighbors wife. How many people sleep with married men or women? How many cheat on their husband or wife? If you commit number 10 you can also scratch off number 7. The whole idea is absurd. We have laws to keep us in line. Common sense should show up somewhere in the equation. People fight and argue to keep these useless tablets in public places to force their beliefs on everyone else. Religion is separate from government, obviously it is way separate from science and the use of logic. If you enjoy being told what to do, what to say and what to think from someone other than your own self and your own conscience by all means read and live by the bible, not one story has any historic or scientific truth. Nothing can be proven. Faith and especially blind faith will set your mind at ease, it's an easy way out, it takes no self introspection at all. Me, I call it like I see it.

I think you ought to read a little closer. When Moses encountered God (Exodus 3:2 through 4:28) on the mountain in the midst of a burning bush, not as a burning bush, God was choosing Moses to lead the people of Israel out of captivity.
Moses did not part the Red Sea.
Exodus 14:21
And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
"Number five is o.k. if your parents are worth honoring, I'm sure old Jesus dug his father forsaking him???"
John 16:32
Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
Jesus knew and accepted is purpose here on earth.
Luke 22:41-42
And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed.
Saying, Father if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: neverhteless not my will, but thine, be done.

We have lots and lots of laws to keep people in line yet are jails are overflowing. Common sense is not very common in this world.
How is the display of the Ten Commandments forcing anyone's beliefs on anyone? No one is forcing anyone to read them or anyone to obey them.
Our myriad of laws don't force anyone to behave themselves. Cops with guns are displayed in our society but that doesn't make people obey the laws. We have jails to lock people up in but that is not an incentive for people to obey the law and use their common sense.
Doing the right thing is a choice. God does not make anyone do anything. I think that is referred to as free will. The Bible is full of God's promises to those that choose to do the right thing. I don't believe in organized religion either. I do, however, believe in the Word of God.
I actually read the book of Genesis. Way too much bloodshed for me. I like the idea of concubines though. I'm not big on the idea of slavery, god seemed ok with it. I thought we were all god's children. The thing with Noah seemed a bit brash to me. I tried to start the new testament but the writing is just aweful.I understand the new testament was written 40 years after the death of Jesus. That's a long time in between for accuracy.I kind of feel like Jesus is a composite of several people. I checked it out and a lot of other spiritual leaders were born of a virgin mother and died on December 25th.The three western religions Judaism,Islam and Christianity can never seem to get along. Alot of people have died throughout history in the name of god. I have to wonder if the miracles of the bible happened today what the headlines in the papers and the internet would be? The virgin birth, walking on water, water into wine, the bread and fish thing, raising people from the dead, the resurrection etc seem very Hollywoodish. It seems like from the year 33ad-70ad(gospels) to 2008 is a long time to pass and not a word from god or jesus. That's a long time and nothing new to report.Even the constitution can change with the times.
The world is a brutal and an unforgiving place but at the same time can be so full of love. How can murder and hate go on in the world and at the same time have such a great love such as a father and a mother holding their new born baby?
People will blame it on God. God doesn't make the choices, people do. People have the choice to either live in love or to live in hate. A lot of people choose to live in hate.
All of this can't be explained in a few paragraphs.
As stated earlier, I'm not a supporter of organized religion either.
I do however believe in the Bible as the living Word of God. I believe God speaks to us everyday through His Word.
Miracles happen everyday. I've experienced them in my life. I've seen God's promises work in my life. I know that if I live my life the way I should, God must and will perform His Word and keep His promises.
I do have faith in what the Bible tells me. I wouldn't consider it blind faith. I understand what it says and I have experienced its truths.
I see the world and where it is at and I take comfort in these two readings.
John 16:33
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble, trials, and tribulations. But take heart and be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.
Isaiah 60:1-2
Arise and shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
See, darkness covers the earth and gross darkness is over the people, but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you.
It would be great if love could rule over the earth and everyone on it could get along. Man was placed on earth to have dominion over it. That dominion was given up when man fell in the Garden of Eden. Christ died for us on the cross so that man could have dominion again. Just as I belive there is a God, there is also the devil bringing evil into the world.
People can either exercise there dominion over evil or let evil have dominion over them. It is obvious in the world which path some people have taken.
