Howard Zinn Book I'm Reading..

I'm reading this fantastic book by my hero Howard Zinn. It's another awesome collection of his essays. Howard always gives it to you straight from the hip. Can you imagine the anarchy if Mr. Zinn were in charge of the reading cirriculum for high schools and colleges in this country. He exposes the truth of our so called "government by the people". Our congress and elected officials fall somewhere between used car salesmen and charlatan televangelist. He talks about the U.S. Military and all the lies, deception and murder for empire and profit that come out of the Pentagon. Our favorite House of Death. As always Howard Zinn takes you under the radar of the government controlled mass media in this country. Some of the pieces are a little older but still very timely as the Bush regime is still spreading american terrorism throughout the world. Maybe old Georgey Boy will figure out a way to pardon himself from all the bloodshed on his crony, greedy, and devilish little hands.

Sean Penn in MILK

We went to see the latest Gus Van Sant movie "MILK" last Friday night. It's always cool to see a film at The Esquire on Ludlow Ave. I know about the Harvey Milk story as we lived in San Francisco from 1991-1996, he is and will always be a hero in the city by the bay. Sean Penn's performance has to be in line for some sort of major award as he embodied the spirit of this great personality. The entire cast was spot on in this one. They threw in some actual footage of the 1970s so you get a real sense of the times. I'm proud to say that I've seen motion pictures at The Castro Theater and I actually got to touch the Aids Quilt. I have to give this movie an "A".

I don't want to leave out Josh Brolin as "Dan White" the man who murdered Harvey Milk and Mayor Moscone. A perfect heel role to compliment his performance in "No Country for old Men", great role, so so movie. So do yourself a huge favor and check out this wonderful film and pay homage to Sean Penn.

Something Cool

I've always admired Anton Szandor LaVey. He has many sayings or quotes about the human or inhuman condition but this is the one that comes to mind most often. I've taken this quote to mean that we should enjoy the pleasures of the flesh as they seem to be the most human of all desires. As long as you have a willing partner and no harm comes to anyone why waste your time here on earth. Try to live life to it's fullest. The main thing is to live!
Human beings are conditioned by religion and television etc. to be repressed and oppressed when it comes to sex and creativity.
Live, learn and experience and leave some sort of positive legacy behind. Life is too short and God is an invisible friend who seems not to care about the human race. Use your own mind!!

A few words about our new President..

I've been listening to a lot of NPR when I get up about 10:00am. It's pretty informative, sometimes a little to central but what can I say I'm a lefty. Anyway, I've been keeping up with President Obama's cabinet appointees and I have to say this guy may end up being our best president ever. You just went through 8 years of the worst president in our empirical history and the entire world has paid the price. But I still have hope, Howard Zinn says that there is always hope for a better world, so I gotta go along with my hero. Now that someone with brains is coming into office, I think we still have to remember to do our own part to make the world a better place. Let's use Barack as the catalyst and kick start a new world. The country seems to be in the shithouse right now, but the last eight years have proven that we can make it against incredible odds. So who's with me?

I have disagreements with people from time to time concerning God and Religion in general and I found this graphic that explains BLIND FAITH in all it's glory. When I use the word REASONING to describe the madness of the bible I get the funniest looks. There is no reason or proof to believe long dead dogma,but it is still the most profitable game in town. They get away without paying taxes, now that's the greatest miracle of them all.

So many people have died in the name of Jesus and God that this graphic seemed appropriate here. From the Crusades to the Inquisition to Bush and beyond. Religious leaders the world over have become the biggest serial killers in the history of mankind. The tadpoles must be rolling in their watery graves knowing what evolution has become.

When Barack Obama takes office on January 20th, 2009 his first order of business will be...
Have George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, John Ashcroft, Condi Rice, Colin Powell, Paul Wolfiwitz, Robert Gates, and Paul Bremer all arrested on The White House lawn. Parade them through the streets of Washington D.C. in their shit stained underwear and lead them off to life imprisonment.I haven't forgotten all of the corrupt politicians in Congress, everyone at FOX, Rush Limbaugh, G. Gordon Liddy, Michael Savage, Glen Beck, all the religious nuts like Billy Graham, Rick Warren, Ted Haggard, John Hagee, Rod Parsley, Pat Robertson, Robert Schuler and so on. There will be enough scumbags to open up Alcatraz again. I guess these criminals would be enough for me to be pro death penalty. I'm starting to see visions of another round of crucifixions, I'd pay top dollar for front row tickets to see this event. I'm thinking Fountain Square at lunchtime!!!

The Abortion Issue!

Yesterday we took a ride to take in the sunshine and pleasant temperature. We went through the town of Lawrenceberg Indiana. We were at the main intersection waiting for the light to change. Both sides of the street are lined with Anti-Abortion people. I'm all for the right to protest and have rallys. It's the first amendment after all. But I'm not cool with the posters they are displaying. We have a kid in the car and I'm trying to distract her attention from these people. As I have always said..ABORTION IS A RELIGIOUS ISSUE NOT A POLITICAL ISSUE. If you want to protest the war please do it. If you want to protest the government do it. If you want someone elected to office, please walk around with their sign. And VOTE!!!
I am a tried and true PRO-CHOICE advocate, always will be. I am a huge supporter of Planned Parenthood. In this country of religious fanaticism (still absolutely no proof of god's existence) I am damned to hell(no proof of its existence either). I don't know a single human being on this earth that is pro-abortion (they don't exist either). Most people I have run across (or would like to run over) are pro-life and pro death penalty. That always cracks me up. A majority of these people are religious and vote republican. I'm not making it up!
The founding fathers had this little thing called Seperation of Church and State. The abortion issue falls into this category. It came up as a political issue and was voted on and settled back in the 1970s. Only a lack of common sense and religious mania keeps it in the limelight. It's amazing to me that people who protest Planned Parenthood buildings and kill doctors care so much about the unborn. Once the child is born,they elect officials who don't care one bit about educating or providing adequate health care for the child. When the child gets older the same people elect the same officials who don't care about labor rights or civil rights, they start wars and destroy the environment. It's an ugly vicious cycle.
So the next time you want to protest at an abortion clinic, bring a check for $100,000 dollars and give it to the woman going in the front gate. It will help pay for all the suffering and emotional distress you are putting her through and it will help birth, educate and keep well the unborn child. If you don't have the money then mind your own business and do something productive with your life. Don't forget that we also have FREEDOM FROM RELIGION!!!!!!

Joey Shithead the singer of D.O.A. contributed a piece to the Jockey Club Book. Their new cd celebrates 30 years of punk rocking for Joey. I'm proud to say I saw them many times in the 1980s at The Jockey Club. All these years and they are still kicking down the walls..

Hillary Rally In Northside!!

Yesterday we were at the Hillary rally here in Northside at the Postal Carriers Union Hall. It was a cool to hear Governor Ted Strickland speak and introduce Steve Driehaus (District 1) and Victoria Wulsin (District 2) running for congressional seats. When Hillary came out I put Rory up on my shoulders and she was clapping and cheering loudly. I have to say that Hillary is a dynamic speaker and she had everyone going nuts for Barack Obama. I think Ohio really is a BLUE STATE after all.

Vote for Steve Driehaus for Congress

Steve Chabot is Congressman for Ohio's District #1. That is basically all of Cincinnati. The League of Conservation Voters has given him an approval rating of 8% out of a possible 100%.

That's worse than the worst George W. Bush. Chabot is a tried and true Westside Republican. This translates into a right wing Catholic (christian) for the most part, it is a Cincinnati tradtion, not one to be proud of , but it still stands. He has authored abortion (religious issue not political) legislation and has had ties to Jack Abramoff.

He is a crook and has to go. I'm voting for Steve Driehaus for Congress on November 4th.

Vote For Barack Obama November 4th

I just watched the very impartial "Choice 2008" on PBS. It's a timeline of Barack Obama and John McCain leading up to the November 4th election. I have to say they gave equal time to both candidates and the people who were speaking for them. Both parties have had issues to overcome and these issues were portrayed evenly by PBS. I actually found myself being bipartisan for most of the feature. But I found myself drifting towards Barack Obama after seeing how McCain handled himself with George W. Bush. I guess he had to suck up to the Religious Right (especially Falwell),

and the so called Bush conservative right. His total and absolute support of the war in Iraq and his obsession with the so called "surge" and his vote and support for allowing torture turned me off. For a macho tough guy who was in a POW camp to be so pro war is quite scary indeed. He loves the Bush tax cuts, which are a complete kick in the ass for Joe The Plumber (Joe is not even his real name) and Chuck The Printer( Chuck is me real name). The real clincher for me has to be the addition of Sarah Palin as the V.P. Candidate. I did a little checking up on her and she hasn't really been an exemplary political presence for Alaska, but I'm sure everyone has done their research so this isn't much of a surprise. Not to mention the insanity of her religious beliefs. I would love to hear what Mark Twain or Thomas Jefferson would have to say about this little tart. Although my first choice is still Ralph Nader, I'm voting for Barack Obama. The way I figure it, rich white men have been running this country into the ground for a long time, let's give a smart, educated, african american man a shot at it, at least once.

Maybe we can go from the worst of the worst to the best of the best.

In 2000 the rest of the world said I'm glad I'm not from America if George Bush is the best they can offer. I say I'm glad I'm not from Alaska if Sarah Palin is the best they can offer.

All three are using the tenets of modern day McCarthyism. The term is used to describe wreckless and unsubstaniated accusations as well as public attacks on the character or patriotism of political opponents.
The Republican party has reached it's lowest peak to date, running scared they have reduced themselves to name calling and mudslinging.

Joseph Raymond McCarthy: Republican Senator From Wisconsin 1947 -1957, Roman Catholic. Beginning in 1950 Joe claimed that there were a large number of Communists and Soviet spies inside the U.S. Federal government. The Cold War was in full swing and it was the perfect hoax to scare people and get them to fall in line. Typical of non-thinking and irrational beings that most americans are they fell for it. Just like they fell for all of J.Edgar Hoover's bullshit for many many years. It took until 1954 for someone to finally speak up. Senator Ralph Flanders from Vermont compared McCarthy to Hitler, accusing him of spreading division and confusion. McCarthy was censured but served out his term. He died in 1957 at the age of only 48. The official cause of death was hepitis, common knowledge was that he died of alcoholism. If I was alive back then I would have thrown one hell of a party to celebrate the death of one of America's worst.
Back to John, Sarah and Michelle, the newest of the American worst. You don't have to be a Democrat, Liberal, leftist etc, to see the writing on the ballot. We are in the midst of an American Political Cold War. Fear, economic terror, Joe the plumber, GOD, all in a good days speech writing.
The television and radio media are raking it in on useless debates and analyisis. Turn it off and use your head....

I Just Saw "Religulous" by Bill Maher

We went to see Bill Maher's RELIGULOUS a few hours ago. My awesome friend Maryanne told me I would go nuts when I saw it. Well, we used a coupon I cut out to get in for $3.25 each, the normal price is $6.50 each for a matinee, I was already hyped up. The Esquire Theatre on Ludlow is the perfect setting for a movie like this. The crowd had many older people in attendance, let's say 60 plus as the age group. They were laughing the loudest, except for me of course. I have been in touch with the inside joke of organized religion for a long time. Like I always maintain, if you can belief what the Republicans are selling you sure as hell can believe what the bible is selling. I liked the way Bill talked to out of the way people, the truck stop folks and the assorted preachers and nut jobs. Going to Mecca and the Vatican were excellent ideas. Hitting the Creation Museum in Northern Kentucky was just perfect, and funny. I've always been a fan of the hypocrisy of religion, it's just understood, no one questions it, they just keep on giving, sweet, I'm in the wrong business. Maryanne was wrong I did not go nuts at all. It's more like "I told you so", I am outspoken about religion and politics as they intertwine in the world and makes people in charge do idiotic things when it comes to domestic and foreign policy. I'm buying the DVD when it comes out for sure. I recommend the movie for any person who leans toward the religious side. It makes all three major religions, Muslim, Xtian and Jews look pretty stupid. I could get killed by a crusader for saying that. Things never change they just get more religulous every day.

Anti-Intellectualism Rules!!

I never really liked the term "liberal elite". I know George Bush hates it because those people are his mortal enemies. Lucky for him and Dick there aren't too many of us. If you have an open mind, think rationally, and can retain even up to the minute history you are an outcast and enemy of the current Repubican Party. It's no secret that a majority of people prefer to be told what to think, what to wear, what to eat, who to pray to and especially who to vote for. It's much easier that way, it allows more time to watch FOX and listen to 700 WLW. In a way Karl Rove is a genuis. If the President comes across as a complete dip shit, it will make the rest of America feel better about themselves. They will be more comfortable having someone in charge with a single digit IQ. It's easier to lead the sheep to the slaughter if you dummy them down, and guess what ,it worked and it will work again for McCain and what's her name, the militia woman. I had a run in with two other co-workers last night about politics and religion, two of my favorite topics. I got ganged up on but I like a challenge. After hearing them call Barack Obama everything except a NIGGER, I chimed in.
Go ahead and call him that, it seems to be his biggest fault. Plus that talk is accepted in this town. If it wasn't for us lefties I think we would have weekly lynchings on fountain square, it would draw record crowds. The worst thing you can call a racist is a racist in front of other people, it drives them nuts. Then it turns uglier when one dude turns it into a religious quarrel. I'm good to go. I let it rip about religion and politics and the anti-intellectualism that runs rampant in this town and across this country.
Guess what, it cleared the room....
The last thing I said was that I would rather be called A LIBERAL ELITIST THAN AN ILLITERATE CONSERVATIVE. So if you are thinking about ganging up on the only lefty at work tomorrow beware: You might come across someone like me!

Cincy Rocks Obama!!

This Sunday we went down to the Barack Obama headquarters here in Northside.

The place was electric. Cuba Gooding Jr. spoke before we arrived. We met some old friends and also made some new ones. We decided to show our support by showing our Cincy Rocks Obama signs at the corner of Hamilton and Blue Rock. It was awesome!!

VP Debate For Samantha!!

So I get a myspace message from my buddy Sam way out west, I miss the LEFT COAST! She can't believe I haven't blogged about the VP Debate.
I didn't watch it! I work 2nd shift and I don't have any way to record television. So I listened to about 5 minutes on XM Radio 's POTUS 08 show. All through last week I told anyone who would listen that Sarah Palin was sequestered in a mountain top retreat and drilled about what to say at the debate, obviously she listened. No answers, and change the subject, typical Republican rhetoric. I wish they would let me be moderator.
I would change all the questions at the last minute so they couldn't memorize the script. I've seen videos of the debate on Alternet and Tom Paine. Sarah Palin has set feminism back at least since the time Creationism began when man walked and talked with the dinosaurs. Remember the show "Land of the Lost"? Any woman who would vote for her would have to already have her tubes tied, because all of her reproductive rights will be taken away by her witch doctor mentor. The BIBLE will serve as both condoms and The Pill. God will be the referee during all wars and we will win because GOD is an american republican, everybody knows that. Now we move to....
Joe Biden is the retired FONZ! Hey!!!!! He is a slicked back used car salesman. He does have years of experience just like McCain....
Too bad not much good has come from those years of experience.

Come November 4th I"m still voting for Barack, mostly for historic reasons and I'll go to my grave having never voted Republican, (trying to give the little one a good foundation) . My heart says to vote for the NADER ticket, but my conscience demands a vote for Barack. I still believe that the working man and woman will be the ultimate loser no matter who wins. But I am hopeful! This country is now the thing that Tom Paine fought against in the 1770's. Actually worse since the burning Bush stole his way in.

Gustav a let down for Republicans!!

Hurricane/Big Storm Gustav was supposed to be a feel good story for the failing Republican Party.McCain was hoping for a disaster the likes of Katrina. Bush and Cheney and FEMA set the standard for the way Republicans view poor black people after Katrina. Now McCain is trying to kiss ass with the Black population now that Barack is the man. The storm would have been awesome if the body count would have been in the hundreds are even thousands. Evidently Mother Nature was not on the payroll of the Republicans. She sure let them down, kind of like Eve did in the FICTION bestseller The Bible. No matter, they will exploit it to their advantage.
Fox News will be on board for photo ops and made up Anti-Barack rhetoric. Oh well, the spin will come up with some sort of disaster to help boost the G.O.P. Sarah Palin is boner inducing like a Baptist homeschooling mom in the south. She looks hot but once you hear what she has to say and what she believes in, masterbation is the only alternative. She will help boost the porno industry, hey those people vote too. Maybe Bush and Cheney can dream up another 911 caper and continue the Great White Hoax (The Republican Party).

I found this fantastic book at a thrift store for $2.99. I had never heard of Susan Jacoby before. By the time I finish this masterpiece she will be in my top 10 all time authors. The book includes peices about famous Freethinkers like Thomas Paine,

Robert Ingersoll, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Clarence Darrow and more. In the past I have labeled myself a Satanist, Atheist, Agnostic , Pagan, Anti-Godist, Realist, but I

guess the label I like the most is Freethinker, it just seems to fit. Read this book!
