This country is in a health care crisis. There are 45 to 50 million people without any health care at all. The rest of us have over priced inadequate coverage. As the above picture states we want and need single payer universal health care. A single payer plan means that there is one central plan for everyone. With a plan like this you could do away with medicare. Everyone from birth to death would be covered.
The plan would be through the government. It would be non-profit. If you can afford it you would also have the choice to keep private insurance. This is NOT one step closer to socialism as claimed by republicans. The problem is that Washington D.C. is owned by lobbyist. If any politician who takes lobby money from the health insurance companies they should be banned from politics for life.
The money that could be saved in administration costs and buracracy would pay for most of it. I would rather pay 3-5% in taxes and be totally covered and not have all those damned co-pays and deductibles. If the democrats can't get it together now they can forget about it. Barack Obama raised alot of money in 2008. Some of that could be used for health care. The money used for two wars could help pay for it. The bailout money could help pay for it. We need a revolution from the people. Our elected officials need to be publicly scrutinized and held to their campaign promises. It might be time to take to the streets?
